Opting for a single logistics site: the solution to optimise its business
As part of its vast reorganisation to support its development, the new technology distribution expert has decided to bring its logistics activities together at a single site. Currently operating with two warehouses covering 17,000 sq. m, Exertis plans to create a single modern, scalable build-to-suit logistics platform that will span 24,000 sq. m.
To support the company in its growth and made-to-measure development project, Exertis has chosen to work with its long-standing partner, Prologis.
Prologis’ solution for this project: rehabilitate an industrial building and design a build-to-suit facility.
Based on the project specifications, the expert teams at Prologis proposed the Marly-la-Ville site, a brownfield industrial complex formerly owned by L’Oréal. The building has been fully rehabilitated and is perfectly in line with Exertis’ environmental standards.
After completing asbestos removal and demolishing the buildings purchased in 2013, Prologis created a logistics campus that can be divided into two separate buildings. The rehabilitation project will provide Exertis with a larger, modular logistics platform featuring premium services and operating permits that meet ICPE environment regulations. At its customer’s request, Prologis is expanding and improving the office space, which faces directly south. The new warehouse has four units covering 6,000 sq. m in total and some 30 loading bays. It took 47 days and 6,000 pallets to move 9,000 product items on 200 lorries to transfer the two former sites to a single platform.
Supporting the sustainable growth of a multi-channel logistics specialist
Delivered in 2017, the warehouse is certified BREEAM Very Good, runs on 100% LED lighting, and is entirely secure and operates with Prologis’ digital EEGLE tool. Via its new platform and automated systems, the electronics distributor can better optimise its multi-channel logistics operations. In the future, Prologis will be able to guide Exertis in its growth with significant building extension capabilities and the Prologis Essentials Marketplace suite.
